When I try to install maps in Basecamp, the only way it allows me to do so is from my device (Montana). I'm a noob with Garmin products and installation. All I can do from there is close the window. almost immediately a smaller window pops up saying 'Garmin Map Updater has stopped working' a new window opens up saying that it is communicating with the server only when I connect the Montana via the USB cable, does the button become enabled. until I connect my Montana, the Continue button at bottom right is disabled. ![]() then pops up a Garmin Map Setup V3.3.3 window stating that this process will guide you through the new map setup process. says it's extracting the files.presumably for the new map updater says it's downloading a new map updater Net framework repair tool.Īny idea what is going on and how I can proceed? Google and the Garmin support website have no answers other than to try the. (While Norton is running, it controls the Windows firewall.I think) I shut down Windows Firewall - made no difference. I tried stopping Norton altogether - same result. It is a Windows 8 PC running Norton Internet Security over a home wireless network. Then it just stops and a window comes up saying 'Garmin map updater has stopped working'. It says it's communicating with the server. It recognizes that my Montana 600 is connected. ![]() ![]() Then the Garmin Map Setup V3.3.3 window opens. It downloads and extracts the new map updater. (There is no setup.exe despite the instructions on the packaging). Connected the GPS to my PC and put the City Navigator NA NT DVD into my drive. I just unpacked my brand new Garmin Montana 600 motorcycle bundle from GPSCity.
